Friday November 17 was the opening night of my new solo exhibition Crossing Borders. The exhibition goes until November 29 at Art&Design Gallery in Miami (8650 Biscayne Blvd #2 Miami, FL 33138) Lots of people, excitement and good music. Of the 38 paintings exhibited, two got sold quite immediately: Both buyers are originally from Cuba and they were so excited when they saw the paintings. They told me the paintings reminded them of their original home. The rooster is an important symbol in Cuban culture; it represents strength and power. Interestingly enough these roosters are not Cuban.
The four-rooster painting set is entitled "The Four Roosters Of The (apo)Calypso". These four colorful roosters caught my attention—roosters in a zoo, in downtown Belgrade. The roosters' colorfulness and upbeat mood contrasted with ruins of buildings left from NATO bombing. The other painting is entitled "Pablito". I saw many roosters in Key West. Most were quite unremarkable. One however stood out; it was quite colorful and its feathers seemed an abstract painting, perhaps something that Picasso himself would have conceived—hence the name. |
Rosangela LoschiRosangela projects her emotions and feelings in colorful and fluid paintings that evoke optimism and eagerness for life. ArchivesCategories |
